MACTEC DEVELOPING ROADWAY IMPROVEMENTS FOR CITY OF WOODSTOCKKENNESAW, GA, July 20, 2006 –- MACTEC Engineering & Consulting (MACTEC E&C) has been awarded a contract from the City of Woodstock, GA for concept design services to develop major roadway improvements that will keep with the direction and details specified in the city's Downtown Master Plan. Bruce C. Coles, president of MACTEC E&C and chairman & CEO of MACTEC, Inc., the holding company (www.mactec.com) - made the announcement. Woodstock, population 17,100, was incorporated in 1897. The city is located in the southernmost part of Cherokee County, approximately 30 miles north of Atlanta and 12 miles south of Canton, the county seat. MACTEC'S Kennesaw office is providing all support personnel, including roadway/streetscape/utility/infrastructure designers, hydrology specialists, transportation/traffic analysts, structural engineers, environmental and permitting specialists, and scientists. According to MACTEC Project Manager George Obaranec, two key elements of the project are a roadway widening from an existing two-lane to a proposed four-lane road with several intersection improvements, and corridor upgrades and streetscape design for the section of the road through downtown Woodstock. "Downtown Woodstock is growing rapidly and is fast becoming a live/work/shop destination," Obaranec said. "There is significant activity and development downtown that will further enhance and improve existing roads, shops, restaurants and offices. The city is also considering a new town center."
