BERRYMAN & HENIGAR AWARDED $135,000 PLAN REVIEW SERVICES CONTRACT FROM CITY OF STOCKTON

PLEASANTON, CA, May 6, 2005 -- Berryman & Henigar has been awarded a $135,000 plan review services contract for the City of Stockton's $120 million Stockton Events Center project. Scott Kvandal, president of Berryman & Henigar, made the announcement.

The City of Stockton, population 260,000, is located 50 miles from Sacramento. The 20-acre project on the north side of the Stockton ship channel is one of the largest ever undertaken by the City. The area previously consisted of a ship building yard, warehouses, car dealerships and a machine shop. Once the structures were demolished, there was a significant amount of brownfield cleanup and site improvements as the original site dated back to World War II.

The Events Center includes a minor league ballpark (Banner Island Ballpark) and parking lots that opened April 28. It is the new home of the Stockton Ports, a California League team. A 220,000 square-foot arena opens this October and will house three athletic teams: the as-yet-to-be-named ECHL minor league hockey team; the California Cougars, an MISL indoor soccer team; and an Arena Football team. The arena will also host live concerts and other special events. A Sheraton Hotel and conference center will open in mid-2006 as will a 38,000 square-foot retail district with up to four national restaurant pads adjacent to the arena complex.

According to Jay Coffey, a construction manager for the City, Berryman & Henigar is providing full plan review services for the project. These comprise architectural, electrical, fire, energy conservation, mechanical, plumbing, and structural plan reviews.

"We're fast-tracking this project and Berryman & Henigar has met and accommodated all project deadlines," Coffey said. "This is a large, complex structure and their team has been very effective in turning around the various plan reviews, often on short notice."

"We're honored to be working with the City on such a significant project," said Todd Bailey, a Berryman & Henigar project manager. "In addition to quick turnaround foundation reviews, we have also incorporated alternate means and methods requests in our code analysis of the building structures."

Berryman & Henigar provides municipal management consulting, civil engineering, planning, public finance, building safety, asset management, and program and construction management to public agencies. The firm is part of the Bureau Veritas family of companies, a worldwide organization, providing a variety of services "for the benefit of business and people."
