PRODUCTIVITY UP FOR STAFFING AGENCY WITH SMARTSEARCH ONLINE
OCEANSIDE, CA, Oct. 8, 1999 - United Staffing Services (USS), a
Philadelphia, PA staffing agency founded in 1985, had recently
restructured the company and wanted to streamline its staffing efforts.
Manually processing resumes was cutting into more important tasks. The
company also needed to coordinate efforts with other offices statewide
in Blair, Harrisburg and Pittsburgh.
The solution, according to Angela Auddino, USS administrative
assistant, was implementing SmartSearch Online from Advanced Personnel
Systems, Inc. (APS; http://www.aps.com). An Internet-based staffing
management system, SmartSearch Online eliminates the need for companies
to purchase expensive hardware, software or technical support.
SmartSearch Online interacts with APS' SmartSearch database. It
features a 'user-friendly' interface and the system can be learned in
minutes.
USS' primary staffing areas are mental health, mental retardation
services, office staffing and industrial staffing. Positions the
company fills include technicians, therapeutic staff support, aides,
behavior specialist consultants, mobile therapists, case managers, and
psychiatric evaluators. Auddino said USS' staffing coordinators receive
a job order for a client that states they need certain requirements and
skills. The data is inputted into SmartSearch Online and the system
instantly retrieves appropriate resumes from USS' resume database which
currently totals 2,862 and is maintained off-site by APS.
"We're able to quickly evaluate and rank candidates," Auddino said.
"The reporting capabilities help us statewide and we're also able to
track the performance of our staffing coordinators. We also don't have
to worry about ongoing administrative and maintenance costs as we have
no hardware or software requirements - APS handles all of this for us."
APS, established in 1985, is located in Oceanside, CA, about 30
miles north of San Diego. The firm pioneered scanning-based staffing
management and has since become a nationwide industry leader in
introducing optical scanning technology for resume retrieval, report
generation and application tracking. In 1990, APS created SmartSearch,
a jobs-driven, scanning-based staffing management system used by
companies nationwide.
